Learn How the Mind Works at the Krist Samaritan Center
MindWorks Testing Now Offers Learning Disability Testing

The Krist Samaritan Center can perform learning disability tests for both adults and children through their psychological testing program, MindWorks Testing.

The counselors at the Krist Samaritan Center believe that the key to overcoming learning disabilities is to properly assess and identify the disorder, as there are many different types of learning disabilities. According to the Center, it is possible to utilize scientific treatments to learn to deal with such challenges. The assessments administered by the Center test for many issues, including dyscalculia, dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyspraxia, visual processing disorder and auditory processing disorder.

The Center’s licensed psychologists and counselors attest that learning disabilities are not related to a person’s intelligence. In fact, many people affected by these difficulties are of average or above average intelligence. Learning disorders point toward differences how the brain receives, processes and conveys information, so those who are challenged by learning disabilities merely see and hear information differently than those without.

Learning disorder testing identifies differences in brain processing. After testing occurs, the psychologists and counselors can help interpret the results and suggest possible actions to take moving forward. The professionals at the Center believe recognizing and evaluating the disorder coupled with choosing the appropriate program can allow the person to develop skills to live more productively.

“Unfortunately, many people challenged by learning disabilities feel that their intelligence is lacking and do not believe they can overcome their struggles,” said Dr. Gerald DeSobe, executive director of the Krist Samaritan Center. “With learning disability testing, we help bridge the gap between potential and achievement so individuals can learn life-long tools to help them cope with their disorder.”
